Economic Impact

FROM THE CITY OF CONCORD

Like cities across the nation, the tourism industry in Concord experienced great losses during the pandemic. In the face of these unprecedented challenges, Visit Concord leveraged its resources to bolster the community and foster new avenues for tourism.

In summer 2022, Visit Concord celebrated the unveiling of nine vibrant murals that have established Concord as a vibrant arts destination. The unveiling was just the first phase of the Creative Concord arts program, which will soon bring an additional murals and four sculptures to the downtown.

Visit Concord also launched the Sensory Tourism initiative to ensure Concord is a welcoming and comfortable destination for individuals with autism or other diagnosed sensory sensitivities. As a Certified Autism Center, Hurricane Harbor is just one location in a network of trained hotels, restaurants, and other venues that is putting Concord on the map for sensory tourism.

The City of Concord continues to invest in the local economy to ensure visitors can experience an abundance of entertainment and culinary options. In the past year, the City of Concord awarded $458,494 to the Todos Santos Business Association to implement cleanliness and safety programs downtown, as well as supported 176 small businesses with $5,000 grants funded by the American Rescue Plan Act.

The recently rebranded Toyota Pavilion at Concord continues to drive concert-goers to great shows at the 12,500-seat outdoor venue, featuring beautiful views of Mt. Diablo. Likewise, music lovers flock to Todos Santos Plaza for Concord’s Thursday night Music & Market series, which runs June through September in concert with the Concord farmers’ market.

A resilient and adaptive organization, Visit Concord is emerging from the pandemic ready to welcome new visitors to our community.
