A First Timer’s Guide To Concord

Located just 29 miles east of San Francisco, overlooking the East Bay is a true Northern California original—Concord. With majestic views from the summit of Mount Diablo, a vibrant year-round music scene and a genuine sense of community, Concord is a place that offers visitors a plethora of exciting possibilities. Here are some ideas to help you make the most of your visit to Concord.

Culinary

Concord now features Global Cuisine representing over 30 countries. For those craving a savory Salvadoran Pupusa or the buzzed about Indian cuisine at Momo n’ Curry, Concord is the place to satisfy your palate while still remaining affordable. Local restaurants are cooking up delicious American, Afghan, Peruvian and Korean cuisine as well as many others. And since everybody loves a good burger, Concord even has its own burger trail!

Craft Beer

Craft brews are flowing in Concord and locals are loving it. Now the entire Bay Area is taking notice with the introduction of Concord’s Beer Passport, Concord’s Beer Trail and the unique breweries that make up the trail. For example, Epidemic Ales was started by a couple of home brewmeisters that turned a hobby into a business! And The Hop Grenade is home to the national podcast The Brewing Network. They do this from a studio inside the brewery!

Entertainment

Concord is home to the Concord Pavilion, the Frank Gehry designed premiere music amphitheater. From Spring through Fall, this is where music and comedy fans step out to see their favorite performers take center stage. Genres include Classic Rock, Comedy, R&B and Soul and Country.

Music and Market. The perfect way to unwind at the end of the day, Music and Market takes place every Thursday (May through September). 2019 is the series 31st year with a music line up that won’t disappoint.

Family-Friendly

Families are looking to Concord for day trips (and sometimes longer stays). After all, you can spend an entire day just at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. Other Concord gems including Markham Nature Park and Arboretum full of lush floral and fauna only interrupted by the Galindo Creek. Another family favorite is Pixieland Amusement Park designed especially for young children. The Dragon Roller Coaster, Frog Hopper, Red Baron Airplanes and other rides are customized for little riders giving them the experience they can’t get in the bigger theme parks.
