From live music, family-friendly and recreation options available year-round, travelers and locals alike have a multitude of opportunities to get out and experience Concord. Tune In

Head to the heart of Concord to catch a free show at Todos Santos Plaza. Get your groove on at Tuesday Night Blues every Tuesday evening in July and Music and Market every Thursday evening throughout the summer (May-September). This summer Concord shows its appreciation for 50 years of jazz with a multi-day, multi-faceted celebration! Concord will bring jazz lovers a 10+ day celebration in a variety locations and experiences throughout the city. The height of the celebration will be an incredible jazz concert with legendary performers at the Concord Pavilion. This Concord Pavilion, a beautiful outdoor amphitheater just outside the city of Concord. Rock bands, bluesy jazz, acoustic shows, hip-hop performances and more play in Concord throughout the summer (April-October). It's a pristine spot to jam to your favorite band under the California sunshine.

Entertainment

If you’re looking to catch a theatre production, stop by B8 Theatre Company, currently located at the Concord Historical Society, to catch their latest live play. The theatre features different plays for a month at a time and offers tickets online or at the door. Movie buffs head to Brenden Movie Theatre to watch the latest flicks. The earliest show time is 11:00 AM and their theatres have luxury electric reclining chairs for a comfortable movie date.

Feeling Festive

Concord celebrates the holidays in style and offers events to celebrate throughout the year. May kicks off with MomDay in the Park in honor of Mother’s Day. The Saturday celebration includes a free concert series and entertainment in the park within Todos Santos Plaza. Bay Area KidFest on the Memorial Day Weekend May 25-27 is one of the Bay Area's longest-running family events in Concord. In celebration of Independence Day, the city hosts an annual festival complete with a 5K race and kids run, pancake breakfast, parade, and fireworks show. Head into the holiday season with a Turkey Trot, an annual 5K/10K Thanksgiving race. There is also a free Kids Dash for little ones to race around Todos Santos Plaza. Shortly after, kick off the Christmas season at Concord’s official tree lighting ceremony. The annual event happens on the first Friday in December and includes a traditional tree lighting ceremony complete with school choir performances, holiday entertainment and sing-a-longs, and a grand arrival of Santa Claus. This special event begins at 4:00 PM in Todos Santos Plaza.

Recreation

2017 marked the first ever Todos Santos Half Marathon, now an annual event happening in late May. This scenic race follows a fairly flat and entirely beautiful course beginning and ending at Todos Santos Plaza. Participants have the opportunity to run or walk through history as the course crosses through the Concord Naval Weapons Station. Those looking for more leisurely activities head to Mount Diablo, Concord’s beautiful, historic state park. While many visitors head straight for Diablo’s summit, there are many points of interest along the way. At the summit, stop for a breathtaking view of the East Bay before delving into history at the summit Building and Museum. Other favorite trails include the Fire Interpretive Trail located just below the summit, caves and sandstone formations at Rock City, the aptly named Fossil Ridge, Deer Flat and Macedo Ranch. Rock climbers can get their fix at the infamous Castle Rock. Park Rangers often hold informational events and guided hikes for those looking for hiking company.

Family Friendly

Traveling as a family sometimes requires all-day activities. Concord is home to the largest water park in the Bay Area, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. Whether you’re seeking an adrenaline rush and looking to work on your tan, everyone can get their fix with wave pools, a lazy river, rides, slides and attractions just for kids. Families can easily spend an entire day, or weekend, at the park with Six Flags Waterworld’s host of amenities. The Hilton Concord is the park’s neighbor hotel, offering a special Six Flags package with complimentary breakfast and transportation to the water park. There are plenty of on-site food and beverage options inside the park to refuel and replenish. Those in need of a day out of the sun can plan a full day of fun at Jungle Concord. The indoor amusement features a wall-to-wall play structure, toddler bounce house and a variety of arcade games. The Café serves food and drinks all day so parents can sit back and relax while the kids play. Concord has a year-round Farmers Market that takes place in Todos Santos Plaza on Tuesdays 10 AM – 2 PM and on Thursday evenings 4-8 PM, April through October. The market has live music and a park for children to play.
