TOP FIVE THINGS TO DO IN AUGUST

Summer celebrations continue in Concord with live music, outdoor art events, neon scorpions and more, all happening in August.

1. SOMETHING TO CROW ABOUT

Rock out like the good old days as The Black Crowes hit the stage at Concord Pavilion on Saturday, August 21!

Coming up in September & October, more big name shows continue with Megadeth, the Lights On Festival, Maroon 5 and TLC. Tickets available now.

Party on and don’t sweat the drive home. Make a night of it at any one of Concord’s nine great hotels, then treat yourself to a fabulous brunch at 1800 Café, Canasta Kitchen, or the new Huckleberry’s before you head out. 

2. NEON NIGHTS

If you’re looking for a different kind of night thrill, check out the glowing scorpions at Mitchell Canyon. Yes, you heard that right, Lindsay Wildlife Center is offering a super cool, guided Neon Scorpion Night Hike guaranteed to delight nature lovers.  The final two events of the season are coming on 8/29 & 9/12 and tickets are $20. ($15 for members.)

3. PLEIN & SIMPLE FUN

Join the Concord Art Association for their Plein Air Outing and create your own work of art at the Concord Visitor Center's beautiful courtyard fountain. The event will be held at the courtyard in Salvio Pacheco Square on Thursday, August 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Also, be sure to catch their Summer Pop-Up Art & Craft Show at the same location on Saturday, August 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

4. FRESH TUNES

If you haven’t been to the Concord Music & Market Series yet, there’s still time! Catch The 925 Band on August 19 and Roy Rogers with Carlos Reyes on August 26. Live concerts happen every Thursday through September 30, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Todos Santos Plaza. 

5. BACK IN TIME

Experience the city like never before with Concord Historical Society’s  self-guided walking tour -- or the new walking tour with audio! Learn all about Concord’s amazing history as you explore downtown’s oldest streets, buildings and homes.

Mark your calendar! Don’t miss the official ribbon cutting at the Concord Visitor Center, Thursday, September 16.
