Go Off-Grid in Concord

In Concord, you can disconnect from daily stress and create an escape for mind, body and soul.

Mt. Diablo

Start with one of the many hiking trails on beautiful Mt. Diablo. For the more athletic, try the Mitchell Canyon - Back Creek Loop. It’s 7-miles with a 1700-ft elevation giving you a substantial workout and beautiful views along the way. You’ll see lush wildflower meadows, secret canyons and majestic pines.

This article provides great instructions on how to get there.

Fossil Ridge Trail

More relaxing is one of Mt. Diablo’s popular short walks. The Fossil Ridge Trail will bring you vistas like none other as you walk alongside the crest of Fossil Ridge, exposed fossils and rock.

Mt. Diablo’s hikes and walks are perfect for bird watching, picnicking or just being still. Trails are available for biking and horseback riding too. So much changes each season that you’ll discover something new each visit.

Markham Nature Park

Equally serene is Concord’s hidden gem, Markham Nature Park with floral and fauna from all over the world and Galindo Creek flowing through it all. Park admission and parking is free, and the park is open from dawn to dusk, all year long.
