Mount Diablo State Park offers some of the most beautiful views in Concord. Explore the park’s many hiking trails, which lead to creeks, waterfalls, and valleys, and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Trails range from easy to difficult, so there is a route for every hiking level. The gates open at 8am and close at sunset.
Concord’s parks and outdoor spaces are scattered throughout the city. Spend an afternoon enjoying the green space, playgrounds, and beautiful views by planning a park picnic. Pack a basket full of farmers' market goodies and set out a blanket on the grass, or reserve a picnic site with tables and barbecue grills for a more formal celebration space.
There are two golf courses in Concord available for tee times. Diablo Creek Golf Course is a beautiful, lush, 18-hole public course that also offers a pro shop, sports bar and grill, and lessons if you’re looking to improve your game. Or, you can check out Skylinks at Buchanan Fields, with a public 9-hole course, a driving range, and an 18-hole putting course. Plus, if you work up an appetite out on the links, you can hit The Zombie Stop on the way out.
Some activities practically define summertime, so there’s no better time than Fourth of July weekend to add these to your itinerary.
A drive-in movie is the perfect way to embrace nostalgia and celebrate America 250. Opened in 1968, West Wind Solano Drive-In offers a historic slice of Americana while also featuring modern technology, so you can enjoy your movie on a crystal-clear digital screen.

Come in to appreciate the artistry of this collection, revisit games you haven’t seen in years, or discover new favorites. It’s also a great place to cool off in the air conditioning on a hot summer day. Be sure to bring cash: all of the machines take quarters, and while there is a change machine on site, there is no ATM.
