10 More Things to do right now in Concord (Week 2)

10 More Things to do right now in Concord (Week 2)

1. Feel the Funk: Move to the groove and dance like nobody’s watching because if you’re dancing alone in your room, maybe no one is watching. Experience the hip hop stylings of FUNKMODE -- this Concord-based dance studio who's digital workouts for all ages is sure to rock your world and help you find your rhythm.

2. Concord Movie Night: How about a movie filmed in Concord about a Concord sports team? And which team might that be? The De La Salle Spartans football team! When the Game Stands Tall is inspired by the true story of the 2003 team. Between 1992 and 2004, De La Salle established a national record-winning streak of 151 games, shattering the previous record of 72 games.

3. Lights! Camera! Action! Have a song, dance or skit just begging to be seen? Film it, post it, and tag us @VisitConcordCa and #ConcordLove to see it on our website or social media!

4. #ConcordCares: Lend a helping hand and get out of the house for those who can’t! Monument Crisis Center is stepping up to provide groceries for families in the area. In the words of Mayor Tim McGallian, “Taking care of our neighbors is how we will get through this as a community. Neighbor Express shows that Concord Cares.”

5. Celebrate Concord-Style: Have a spring birthday, but your party got cancelled? Never fear, you can still celebrate sweetly with a sweet birthday cake or really any treat under the sun personalized by our very own Alpine Bakery.

6. Picnic in the Park: Pack a lunch and make your way to Markham Nature Park and Arboretum-- an urban oasis with more than 2.4 miles of trails. A good place to run around and get the wiggles out without having to run into anyone.

7. Meandering Along: Walk the Contra Costa Canal Trail through a paved multi-use, whole-access trail in the Park District system that is popular with bikers, runners and equestrians. Please note that some parks and trails have limited hours or access at this time. Please check East Bay Regional Park District website for updates.

8. Learn About a New Religion: Visit the Shiva Murugan Temple. It was established in 1957 as the fist traditional Hindu temple erected in the USA. While there are no services happening now, you can visit 1803 2nd St, Concord, CA 94519, or take a virtual tour.

9. Watch the Water: New Hall Park, the home to a hidden lake and trail is nestled just on the outskirts of Concord. Sit and feed the ducks or just spend time walking the path around the lake. Maybe take your pup out for a walk and stop in at the dog park!

10. Taste Test: Why not order some takeout from a Concord restaurant you’ve never tried before? Check out the #concordeats list of restaurants open for takeout or delivery during Shelter in Place and have fun choosing. Or, if you’re just wanting some tried-and-true comfort food, there are plenty of well-known favorites, too.
