Dig that cozy sweater out of your closet and get pumped for pumpkin season. Smith Family Farms in Brentwood has been providing Contra Costa County with quality produce and family fun for over 30 years, and this year is no different! Celebrate the Fall-idays at Smith Family Farm and enjoy live music at the gazebo, have fun looking for the perfect pumpkin in the corn maze trail, and watch local bees hard at work making honey. There’s also a brand new butterfly habitat. Keep in mind the farm only accepts cash and check payments at this time.

Joan's Farm and Pumpkin Patch

Joan's Farm and Pumpkin Patch in Livermore offers a great experience in the East Bay. The farm has plentiful pumpkins, an Old West town, Fort Maze, a petting zoo, an Antique Farm Equipment Museum, and Joan's Cafe. Bring your camera because there are photo opportunities galore. They prefer cash, so stop at the ATM before you arrive (there’s also one on site at the farm.) Joan's is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, Oct. 3 through Halloween. World’s Largest Corn Maze

Did you know that the world’s largest corn maze sits less than an hour away from Concord? RIchardson Farms in Dixon, California, is famous for its intricate maze trail -- and it’s size! With 9 - 10 miles of trail winding through 28 acres of live corn, you are in for a challenge, and a treat! Every year the maze is completely unique, this year featuring our very own logo (what does this mean?) and a special tribute to our local First Responders! Admission is only $15 and kids under 5 get in free. While you’re there, you can even pick out some pumpkins to take home and carve up later.

Arata's Pumpkin Farm

Arata's Pumpkin Farm in Half Moon Bay — Arata's Pumpkin Farm is the oldest sustainable pumpkin farm in San Mateo County. Pumpkins have been a way of life at the Arata Farm since 1932. Not only do they have tons of pumpkins, large and small, but they also have a hay maze, a haunted barn, a petting zoo, hayrides, pony rides, and a train ride. The farm is open from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. 7 days a week through Halloween. In October, they remain open until 10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Farmer John's Pumpkin Farm

Farmer John's Pumpkin Farm in Half Moon Bay — Yes, there is a real Farmer John, and he is on hand to talk with you about pumpkins and picking the perfect gourd. Take photos in front of a teepee, and if you visit on Oct. 4, it's Bernese Mountain Dog Day. Last year, more than 130 dogs visited. Farmer John's is open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Halloween. The address is 850 North Cabrillo Highway (1 mile North of Hwy 92, on the oceanside), Half Moon Bay, CA.

Fear Overload Halloween Haunt

Have you been freaked that you might not be able to get your scare on this year? Never fear… or maybe do! For folks who like to get scared, we have great news: Bayfair Center in San Leandro is putting on their annual Fear Overload Scream Park with two new creepy galleries in an actor-less, walk-through format. You can choose to “Descend the Basement," which takes visitors through "the psychological ride on why basements are the epitome of fear and intimidation for many of us.” Or "The Demon," a parallel-dimension jaunt with "Jungler," who takes the form of a young child with long, black hair covering her face and hears "your thoughts within the walls of its haunt.”
